Harriette's Song

Songs of hope being sung around the world

Where We Sing

There is desperate need all over the world. We live in a time where half of the 3 billion children in the world are living in extreme poverty. This type of poverty has robbed these precious individuals of basic needs such as food, shelter and education, and any hope for change. This is truly an injustice. We believe we can do something about it.

The Harriette’s Song organization is focusing their efforts on the poorest of the poor. We want to reach locations that have less access to resources.

We are committed to bringing a new song into impoverished communities. By helping provide for basic needs, we are, in turn, helping these children write new lyrics to their song.

Cambodia

The late 70s brought the people of Cambodia under the oppression of a dysfunctional government whom succeeded in destroying the foundations of modern education by killing or driving out people with higher education. An entire generation lacking access to learning grew up illiterate, leaving their country and their lives in a state of poverty and depression with very little hope for the future. Today the need for education is huge. 63% of adult population are basically illiterate, making it difficult for the younger people to find a way out of their situation.

India

In August of 1999 India's population reached one billion people. It is
second only to China. Unfortunately as the population rises, so do the
growing number of orphans. Because of strained resources and a still functioning caste system, many of these children go uncared for, or
are sold into all sorts of child labor. Even with such a rich culture of
people many struggle to provide for their daily needs. One third of
the population are living below the poverty line. The lack of education
has left half of the Indian adult population illiterate and is giving little
possibility for change for future generations.
